Here’s a clear, step-by-step way to choose your bridal shoes for your wedding day.

Start With Your Dress...Length & silhouette:
Full-length gowns → shoes matter more for comfort than visibility.

If you’re not use to wearing a very high heel then opt out for…
Flats or sandals – elegant, pain-free, great for outdoor weddings.
Low heels (1–2”) – chic and comfortable.
Block heels or wedges – stability + style.
Will you be standing, walking, or dancing a lot?

Your seamstress will hem your dress according to your heel height. So if your choose a very high heel for your ceremony and photos, and then decide to later wear some comfy flats your dress will be too long again. Some brides choose classic ceremony shoes and fun reception shoes. But keep the heel heights the same.

About Your Venue.

Your location matters more than you think.

Beach / grass / garden → flats, wedges, or block heels.
Ballroom / indoor → any style works.
Cobblestone / outdoor paths → avoid thin heels.

Look for:
Cushioned insoles.
Soft leather or fabric lining.
Ankle straps or secure backs.
Rounded or open toes for wiggle room 🙂
Use gel pads or heel grips if needed.

Classic or Statement?
Timeless: satin pumps, ivory heels, minimal sandals
Statement: crystals, bows, color (blue!), embroidery, metallic.

Be careful of details like buckles that have gemstones with a claw settings as these may catch on your dress if you have any lace or tulle layers.

There are brands specifically for weddings such as The Rainbow Club. You can also search luxury brands or even high street / online retailers. You may decide to splurge on Jimmy Choos or Dior. Many brides also find lovely bridal shoes on sites like ASOS or Zara. If you plan on dancing the night away maybe look into ballroom dance shoes. Your budget and/or preference to wear them again after your wedding may help your choose what pair are right for you.
